We offer two different CPR classes:
- Heartsaver AED (Community CPR Training) – audience: layperson, community member, non-medical professional, teenager
- BLS for Healthcare Provider – audience: nurse, nursing student, EMT, paramedic, dental office employee, medical office employee
Heartsaver AED (Community CPR Class)
It is our belief that all members of the community should be certified to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and know how to use an AED (automatic external defibrillator). The community-based CPR class is called “Heartsaver AED”.
Classes are typically 3.5 hours long and there is no charge for residents of Henrietta to attend. For non-residents, there is a charge of $35.00. All AHA CPR cards are valid for two years.
NOTE: This course is NOT for medical professionals. If you are any of the following, please see the “BLS for Healthcare Provider Class” below: nurse, nursing student, EMT, paramedic, dental office employee, medical office employee, etc.

CPR for Businesses & Employees
We are happy to work with you to setup training classes for your employees including first aid and CPR. Please e-mail cpr@hvaems.org or call 334-4190.
First Aid
The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid course effectively delivers the most comprehensive first aid training in the industry. This four-hour class is tailored to both employees of local companies as well as the general public. Topics covered include first aid management of common medical conditions including chest pain, bleeding, shortness of breath, stroke and diabetes. The AHA First Aid class offered by Henrietta Ambulance is held in our Training Center on Calkins Road. However, local business owners may contact us to setup a custom on-site class as needed.
Did You Know?
- About 80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in private residential settings, so being trained to perform CPR can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one.
- Death from sudden cardiac arrest is not inevitable. If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved.
- If bystander CPR is not provided, a sudden cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival fall 7 percent to 10 percent for every minute of delay until defibrillation. Few attempts at resuscitation are successful if CPR and defibrillation are not provided within minutes of collapse.
